Did you know that we’re only 133 days from kickoff of the 2024 college football season?
That’s great and all, you might be saying, but why did he pick such a random number to start with?
Fear not, loyal reader, because that number is not random! In fact, it is the amount of FBS teams that will be competing in the sport’s highest subdivision in this upcoming season. Why should you care? Because it’s time for a countdown!
Yes, last year was a lot with write ups of each team. I might even go so far as to say that most of the ones I published last year were irrelevant by the time the season started because of the spring portal window. So we’re doing the countdown a little differently this year.
You know what else is returning this year along with college football? If you guessed the EA College Football title, you’re correct! So what better way to count down the days until college football than with a new cover mock-up each week?
So, let’s get ready for Saturdays on campus, Fansville commercials, Corso headgear picks, and wild football nonsense together.
I’ll be posting one cover mock-up each day on the SID Sports social media. If you haven’t already followed us on your favorite outlet (we’re on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Bluesky), now’s the great time to do it! And be sure to share your favorite teams and covers! I’ll be in the comments ready to talk about each and every team, so feel free to drop in and let me know how you think they’ll do this season.
As we start gearing up for our second season, I want to focus on building an area that I feel like was a little lacking in the past: the SID Sports community.
I’m incredibly appreciative of all who read SID Sports, but I want to hear from you. With that said, I’m happy to introduce some new perks for Substack subscribers to SID Sports: Subscriber Chat.
This chat is a way for us to connect in one place. While I’ll still be active on the various SID Sports social media platforms (follow if you haven’t already!), this new feature allows all of you to join in a chat with me, either on the Substack app or on the web version.
For now, I’ll limit our threads to just the posts here, but in the future, we might expand that. Think gameday threads or threads for big news releases. I’m really excited to share this with you all, and keen-eyed subscribers might have already noticed a few threads started.
From what I’ve seen in early testing and from other Substacks, this is easiest in the app (available on both Apple and Android devices), but it isn’t too bad on desktop if that’s more your forte.
Also, with the return of the college football video game series - my favorite gaming series of all time - we get a unique new opportunity. Who’s interested in some dynasty action?
Let me know if the poll below if you’d be interested in watching some SID Sports dynasty rebuilds. Based on the game’s features, I have a ton of ideas, but we’ll have to see how it shakes out once it releases.
Have any questions, ideas, article pitches, or information? With the new Substack features, you can directly message me! Hit the button below to send me a message, or reach out via email to sidsports23@gmail.com, or find us on your favorite social media platform like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Substack Notes and Bluesky.
