Now Introducing: The University of Eastern Colorado Bighorns
A new series to show you how an SID functions
Hello everyone, and welcome to the University of Eastern Colorado Bighorns Dynasty!
I’ve been teasing it here for a while, but it’s time to actually launch this dynasty series! I’ve created the team and lore about the University of Eastern Colorado, done a few test games, worked out the workflow on how to actually make these videos, laid the groundwork and now we’re here.
NCAA14 rebuilds are some of my favorite series on the internet to watch. Whether that’s a more casual Bordeaux-like one-hour speed run, a more game-by-game but still casual Not The Expert UGF or Death Valley State or Rocket City, the endless sandbox of dynasty mode is intriguing. Especially with a Teambuilder option.
But I left out my favorite series of them all. The one that really inspired me to do this. Mr. Hurriicane’s Kalispell Warhawks Dynasty. In this series, Mr. Hurricane takes a more professional stance as a broadcaster for the team. That’s how I envision the series taking shape here.
So how will this work?
I’m envisioning two main content types. First, the games will be a video that’s posted to the SID Sports YouTube Channel. You’ll want to subscribe to that now to make sure you get all the videos. I’ll also post them here, so if Substack is your go-to, you won’t be left out.
But I promised you all that I’d take you into the world of an SID and I plan on doing just that! Right now, I’m planning on a combination of written content and video content. A lot of SID work comes in written form, so I’m thinking of doing a video where I talk through what I’m doing and why while attaching the written out final product. That way you have a finished product and the workflow behind it (yes, I’m kind of stealing this idea from
by .)Right now, I’m happy to say that the first videos are going to start going up next week! The first will be a meet the team video will come out here and on YouTube one day later. SID content will live solely on Substack and the first video/piece of information is coming a day or two after that. It’s going to be a big one, so be ready for it! SIDs have a ton of work before the season, even if it’s for a make-believe video game team.
But not everything is finalized quite yet. If you want a spot on the team, now’s the final time to walk-onto the roster! You can fill out the Walk-On Interest Survey at the link below! Be sure to get your submissions in by Saturday, October 26 if you want to be on the team!
I’m super excited to share this with you all, so here’s a sneak peak of some of the content coming!
“Since Dr. Patton’s retirement in 1958, UEC has continued to grow, adding in STEM fields, education, and more. Most recently, in 2012, the Schneider College of Law opened its doors following the generous donations from Hon. Albert J. Schneider, one of UEC’s most distinguished alumnus. Today, UEC boasts an enrollment of over 25,000, making it one of the largest programs in the state. Its veterinary and nursing programs routinely rank in the U.S. Top 10 according to the U.S. News and World Report.” - About UEC
“J.J. Williams was named the first head coach of the University of Eastern Colorado’s football program January 31, 2023. Athletic Director Scott Gragg said of Williams in his introductory press conference, ‘Coach Williams is the perfect person to lead the Bighorns program from the jump. He encourages a smart, tough team that will make our fans in Sterling proud to be Bighorn supporters.’
Prior to his time at Emporia State, Williams worked as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator at the University of Central Florida for the 2018 season under then-head coach Josh Heupel. During that time, the Knights went 12-1 and finished the season ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll. Quarterback McKenzie Milton had a great season under the tutelage of Williams and Heupel, passing for 2,663 yards, 25 touchdowns and six interceptions before a leg injury in the final game of the season ended his UCF career.” - Head Coach J.J. Williams
“August 31, 2024 - The Eastern Colorado Bighorns will travel to Boulder, Colorado to take on the University of Colorado Buffaloes in the first ever game in program history.
September 7, 2024 - Miller Memorial Stadium will see its first ever home game as the Eastern Colorado Bighorns welcome FCS Riverside College Royals for their first home contest.” - Bighorn Football Timeline

: It’s time for October baseball, and Colin’s the one I’m trusting to keep me covered! If you don’t know, I love baseball too, and Colin’s been putting out some great work about players around the league. He writes for Yardbarker a lot, but the content is easy to find on CERNIG and super engaging.Split Zone Duo by Alex Kirshner, Steven Godfrey, and Richard Johnson: You can't beat Alex, Richard and Godfrey. They're on the front lines breaking news and creating the best content in the game. I 100 percent recommend SZD for anyone into college football and Steven Godfrey hating your team. They’re mostly a podcast publication, but sometimes being able to listen to three well-informed guys talking about college football is what you need in your life.
