Growing the brand: The next steps for SID Sports and a friend
Announcing a partnership and content update for the 2024 season
Hello loyal SID Sports readers! It’s been a while since I’ve tossed out an update, and what better time than Week 0 to announce a shakeup for the 2024 season?
I’m excited to announce that SID Sports is going to start partnering and collaborating with
by ! To be clear, this is not something new taking the place of either of our works. Instead, it’s going to be a way for us both to grow together and along with you all.To start, I’ll let Tyler introduce himself, Three-Point Stance, and his background:
Three-Point Stance is your favorite independent college football newsletter. Come for in-depth analysis and bold commentary, stay for the jokes and memes. An idea hatched after years of 12-hour days glued to the couch, Tyler Schuster puts his passion for the sport on full display, delivering big-picture ideas, weekly previews and gambling nuggets directly to your inbox.

Question time
How will this affect both our newsletters? Well, we hope that it’s going to first give a lot of new content to both of our readerships. Our focus is still going to be on our own audience, content style, and everything that goes along with it. But we both think this is a great step for us.
First and foremost, the partnership will allow us to have a more robust content creation schedule. Among the first things we discussed is how our publication schedule lines up. We came up with a general template of each week that will clearly evolve and change as the season goes on, but it’s something to expect:
SID Sports is going to follow a similar schedule to last season with Top 25 rankings on Mondays, a potential midweek article on Wednesdays, and Games of the Slot on Fridays.
Three-Point Stance follows a Thursday/Sunday morning schedule, with The Call Sheet on Thursdays, Sunday Storylines on Sundays and sporadic big-picture/in-depth pieces throughout the season.
But how will you get this content? We’re likely going to start by cross-posting. We haven’t figured it out completely yet and will be working out the kinks as the season goes on, but the plan is for the content to be cross-posted from one newsletter to the other. It will be a link directly to the story on the other newsletter, so there is merit in subscribing to both SID Sports and Three-Point Stance.
In fact, I’d recommend it. Subscribe to Three-Point Stance and tell Tyler I sent you. You won’t regret it and I know you’ll enjoy his content.
There also may be a few guest newsletters where either I take the reins at Three-Point Stance for a day or Tyler comes over here to spin you a yarn.
You’ll also see a new blurb at the end of each of our articles. Think of it as a small ad for each other’s newsletter. You don’t have to subscribe to Three-Point Stance - I don’t get any kickbacks and neither of us charge for subscriptions - but why wouldn’t you want more high-quality independent journalism in your life?
All in all, this isn’t something I see a lot in the Substack space and I’m excited to embark on this path with Tyler. I think you all will really enjoy his content and it’ll serve as a nice companion for the kind of things you see here on SID Sports. And I’m excited for you all to welcome Tyler and his subscribers into the SID Sports family.
